Tossing the Caber
This is one of the most well known and popular events at Highland games.
The caber is basically a huge tree trunk and the successful thrower must
be both strong and skillful.

Imagine the competitor lifting the pole with a swift movement into
a vertical position. He then runs with it and stops dead while hurling
the caber upwards.

Each area's Highland games has its own caber and the characteristics
therefore vary slightly. One example is the Braemar Caber which weighs
over 130lbs and is about 19ft. 9ins. long!
